Just Whatever Popped Into My Head

02:24 Nov 25 2007
Times Read: 638

This entry is a combination of things that have been running around my mind.

There is a member of the rave who sounds just like Ringo Starr. I will not say who, but he could fool someone on the phone. '

I am now of the opinion that any single woman that feels men are not hitting on her enough should get a job working in a store. Just be friendly. You will have men asking you for your phone number all day long. One guy today asked me if I was married. I answered and asked him if he was married. Then , he wanted to know if I had a boyfriend. I asked him if he had a boyfriend. I do not think he was prepared for that question.

It is cold and rainy tonight in my part of the world. It is suppose to be the same way tomorrow. I do believe winter has arrived and I can forget having any more warm , sunny days to frolic around .

Other things are on my mind tonight, but I will have to save them for another entry. I have work in the morning and need to rest.

Whatever I Am Thinking about at the moment

00:59 Nov 13 2007
Times Read: 663

Today was Monday and believe me it has felt like it since I woke up. I work in a store. One of my duties is ensuring the beer display in the front of the store is filled with beer and is iced down. On Mondays, I normally pull everything out of it to clean the thing. Well, today a can of Miller High Life Lite decides to hit the floor and bust. Beer went everywhere. The smell of the stuff was foul. I could never drink it after today. I do not drink anyway, but that is another story. Anyway, I finally was able to mop enough with Pine Sol to cut the smell. I do think some of it splashed on me. I could still smell beer for a bit, after my customers commented on how good the store was smelling.

I thought I lost one of the outside padlocks to the store. Jaime, my co-worler who relieves me at night sometimes, does not have a key to one of the outside locks. I remember thinking that I better put that lock inside when I opened the store this morning , since he needed it unlocked. Well, folks what I was thinking and what I actually did was two different things. I removed the lock. placed it on the other side of the doors and locked it. It was not in its proper place, when I went to get it for Jaime. So, naturally I was in a panic looking for it. Finally, I decided to check outside. There was on the door.

I lose things all the time. Keys, ids, socks, etc seem to disappear. Oh and ATM cards. I have lost probably two hundred keys by this point. I know you are thinking that is a gross exaggeration, but just message Mikhail on this site. He can tell you.

Speaking of Mikhail, we had a nice time last night. We went to Barnes and Nobles. The one in Waco serves coffee similar to Starbucks. Mikhail was able to get pumpkin cheesecake. I got a spinach and artichoke stratta. I tried a piece of the cheesecake. It was good.

I am off Wednesday and it cannot get here soon enough. Today makes day five of a six day stretch in working. I need a break.

When Shopping at A Corner Store.

02:31 Nov 11 2007
Times Read: 664

Whenever some people walk into a little corner store, they think it is okay if they are short on the price of the item/items they want to ask the clerk to let them go until they can bring the money back. Well , as a public service announcement, no people it is not okay. True, enough that some people leave a penny or two behind all day. So, if you are short a small amount, the clerk may tell you they will let you go. However, if you are short more than twenty cents, the clerk is not going to want to let you go on it, because you are running their drawer short. They can and will get in trouble. I had a guy come in the store today and he was short about a dollar. To make sure, my drawer was not short ( the guy promised to bring the money back. Of course, I knew from the moment he left the store in too big of a hurry for me to stop him, that he would not return), I ended up having to put the amount on my credit. Yes, employees of some small stores can purchase items on credit and have it taken out of their next check. It is not for customers who cannot understand that they have to pay the full price for an item or items. If they do not have the money, then quess what, they cannot buy it. I feel like telling some customers that they would not expect the car dealership to let them go on one hundred dollars on the price of a new car and that they cannot expect me to let them go on the price of anything in the store.

The Last Few Days

16:59 Nov 07 2007
Times Read: 672

The last few days have been mainly work and more work. I am off today and thankful for a day of rest. I am attempting to make sure my workaholic self, just does not go find something to do. I am finding that hard.

I trained the new guy this weekend and he is at the job by himself today. I had to open the doors for him, because he does not have keys to the store yet. I will go check on him later this afternoon. Hopefully, he will do fine. I seem to think he will. He worked there for two months a few years ago.

I may run some errands this afternoon. I have bills to pay and groceries to buy. Plus, I have a couple of loads of laundry to do. You know, the usual chores that have to be done each week. Right now, my life story sure does not read like a Danielle Steele novel, but I am thankful and happy that things are calm.

Dog The Bounty Hunter

11:30 Nov 03 2007
Times Read: 685

Well, another person has found themselves rightly in trouble for making racist remarks. Dog The Bounty Hunter who has had a hit show on cable for quite some time , now has that same show suspended for making racist comments towards his son's girlfriend who is African- American. His son is by all accounts no choir boy. He has violated the terms of his probation. That still does not give Dog the right to make comments of a racial nature. He point blank told his son not to bring his girlfriend to his house, because they make racial comments that involve saying the N word.

I will have to admit I watched his show. I also watched and enjoyed Seinfeld. I felt it was a shame that a talented actor like Michael Richards also had the problem of being a racist or insensitive to others. Celebrities are going to have to learn that if you are in the spotlight , any and all flaws you have will be noticed. If said flaws are of a racist kind, then get ready. The majority in society, including myself, are not going to back you up in in saying those kinds of things. I do not care who they say it about. It is wrong and I will not accept that someone who has made money and gotten fame by fans who come in all shapes and forms are now expressing some form of hatred towards them.

Dog has made a public statement saying how sorry he is and wants to reach out to African American leaders. He mentioned the Rev Al Sharpton. Perhaps, Rev Sharpton can let Dog know just how devasting it must be to African - Americans to hear one celebrity after another make racial comments about them. First , Michael Richards, then Don Imus, now Dog the Bounty Hunter. It is getting to the point that one wonders who will be caught next spewing racist remarks. Oh, let's not forget Mel Gibson's little tirade about Jews. Of course, he was drunk. Is that really an excuse? I think not.

Dog's son was the one who gave the tape to the National Enquirer. Of course, they were going to make the tape public. They love a good scandal. I am sure some of the money he made went to pay his probation. I am sure no amount of money will repair his relationship with his father. Or make good on the problems his younger sibling will have in school. You can bet that they will hear about what their father said over and over again.

Back Online

11:19 Nov 01 2007
Times Read: 692

Well, I am back online. I enjoyed all eleven messages I found waiting for me in my inbox. I hope I am back before one person's birthday and was happy to have a link to a news article from another person about someone questioning our president's mental health. I see a journal entry about that one.

My off day was relaxing. I slept in and enjoyed myself. I originally had plans to go to a friend's house, but those plans fell through on both of our parts. Her husband was sick and she did not want me to catch it. I had to babysit my roommate's daughter. Her job required her to stay late. I think she is staying late tonight too. That is not good, but her job is such that it is required.

I have work today. It looks like the first of the month will be busy as hell. Everyone that normally does not have money will have it. I am hoping nothing goes wrong in the store today. When things get busy, it is like Murphy's Law comes into play. If it can go wrong, you best believe it will.
